Second shelter for abused Haredi women opened in central Israel

A shelter for abused women from the ultra-Orthodox (Haredi) sector was inaugurated on Wednesday in a city in central Israel. The shelter began operating several months ago, and it can host up to 50 people. Eight women and their children are currently staying there.
The shelter, second of its kind, is being funded by the International Fellowship for Christians and Jews (IFCJ), the Welfare Ministry and private donors.
The Bat Melech fund, a body designated to treat abused women in the Haredi sector, operates the shelter on behalf of the Welfare Ministry along with another establishment for the protection of abused Haredi women. The shelters offer women protection, mental and social assistance and legal counseling.
According to Welfare Ministry figures, 1,388 women sought protection in shelters in 2004, but only half of them were placed in shelters. Currently there are 1,064 children residing in shelters, a third of them under the age of three.

I am not being racist - just telling it like it is, my friend. The Moroccans beat their wives; the Yemenites beat their wives; the Bucharians beat their wives; the Syrians beat their wives, the Persians beat their wives... it's in their blood and they’re no better than Arabs. Obviously not all of them do this but there are way too many who do. And the women, for the most part uneducated and products of similarly abusive environments, unfortunately tolerate it. For every woman in a shelter there are ten that are home suffering.
Thats why they all wear designer sunglasses, to cover their beaten faces, that's true.
Many Ashkenazic men are no better physically and/or emotionally. I'm Ashkenaz, and I've noted many unfortunate events in the arena of wife abuse.

My (Sephardic) husband has never laid a hand on me. He is a great husband, father, and provider. And, he even helps with the nightly cleanup.

whats with all the sinas chinam here people? Lets try to re-educate the young husbands so that they don't follow the ways of there fathers, instead of making these broad statments, which causes hatred among us felloe jews. Trust me, theres enough goyish hate that we shouldn't be hating ourselves.
